Lucia Heffernan

루시아 헤퍼넌(Lucia Heffernan)은 대만에서 태어나 현재 미국 유타주에서 활동하는 현대 작가입니다. 

수채화 화가였던 어머니의 영향을 받아 어릴 적부터 미술에 몰두했으며, Binghamton University에서 순수미술과 디자인을 전공한 뒤 디지털 디자인 회사까지 창립하는 등 다채로운 예술 경력을 쌓았습니다. 

이후 회화로 중심을 옮긴 그녀는 ‘사랑스럽고 유머러스한 동물의 세계’를 그리는 독창적인 스타일로 주목받고 있습니다.

루시아의 작품 속 동물들은 마치 연극 무대 위 배우처럼 등장합니다. 

요가를 하는 병아리, 자화상을 그리는 고양이, 파티를 즐기는 돼지 등 그녀의 그림 속 동물들은 인간의 삶을 흉내 내며 우리를 닮은 모습으로 웃음과 따뜻함을 선사합니다.

사실적인 세부 묘사와 감각적인 색감은 동물의 생동감을 살려주고, 때로는 코믹하고, 때로는 감성적인 분위기로 관객에게 작은 위로와 힐링을 건넵니다. 

그녀는 “현실의 규칙을 비틀어, 불가능해 보이는 장면을 가능하게 보이도록 만드는 것”을 즐기며, 상상력 넘치는 유쾌한 이야기들을 그려냅니다.
